The national leadership of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has disowned what it called illegal structures and offices in Oyo State.
In a statement by national chairman and secretary, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam and Dr. Olu Agunloye respectively, said that “The attention of the Party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) under the leadership of Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam as National Chairman and Dr. Olu Agunloye as National Secretary, has been drawn on several occasions to the illegal structures and offices operating illegitimately as SDP Secretariats in Oyo State to mislead and deceive the public.
2. It is necessary to state categorically that the only legally constitutes State Secretariat of the SDP in Oyo State, recognized by SDP National Headquarters and the INEC Headquarters is located at No. 31, Aare Avenue, Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, under the ledership of Hon. Micheal Okunlade as the State Chairman
3) The National Working Committee has also noted that persons operating those illegal offices purportedly on behalf of the Social Democratic Party, are impersonators and impostors, and have been working against the Party and were variously used to undermine the interest of our Party, the SDP, particularly in the 2023 generalelections in Oyo State
4) Consequently, the National Chairman of the Party has directed that these illegal structures be dissolved and closed down with immediate effect, and that their operators and collaborators be called to order by the security agencies, to stop all their unlawful activities that could be criminal or lead to breach of law and order
5) The following, are the locations of the illegal “SDP Offices” that are being operated in Oyo State:
(i) Adegoke Adelabu Way, Yemetu, Ibadan
(il) Awolowo Bye-Pass, Oke-Ado, Ibadan*
(iii) Any illegal office being operated by any other group claiming to be SDP, but supporting and working for Candidates of any other political party in Oyo State.
6. The Police is respectfully invited to investigate these impersonators and their
- collaborators, and curb their acts
- of irresponsibility
7. All SDP members in Oyo State and the general public are hereby advised to take note of the foregoing disclaimer.
