As Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid-l-Kabir, a gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, Professor Adeolu Akande has charged Nigerians to remember the less privileged in the society by assisting them.
Akande, in a Sallah message to Muslims, urged them to celebrate with modesty, adding that as “Islam preaches love, celebrants should assist those who are in need as it makes society better.”
According to him, “In this period, especially when we are just coming out of economic hardship, assisting our needy neighbours will increase our rewards here and in the hereafter. It is not only by extending material things to them, we can visit or invite them to celebrate with us.
“Let me also use this opportunity to tell us to be tolerant of each other. All adherents of the different religious faiths we have in the country should see ourselves as one and love one another. We need that espefially at this time when we are confronted with security challenges.”
