The SAF Polytechnic, Idi-Ori Iseyin received certificate which conferred on the institution the status of a fully-recognized private polytechnic in Nigeria by the National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB) on Tuesday.
The proprietor of the institution, Alhaji Ismaheel Folorunso who disclosed this while speaking with The Chronicler News said the the certification was another achievement in the kitty of the institution which would enable it focus more on quality programme which would pave way for societal growth.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Architect Sonny Echono, who represented the Minister for Education at the certificate presentation ceremony, charged proprietors and management of private polytechnics and monotechnics to see quality and the bigger picture of how to help develop education in Nigeria as important than the drive to make money.
The Chronicler Newspaper quoted him as calling on the newly-certified institutions to see the opportunity they have as an avenue to support the Federal government’s efforts at reducing the number of students that fail yearly to gain admission to higher institutions of learning.
Ochono said “see this as an opportunity to support government and help the society not just as a moneymaking venture but as a way of giving back to the society by eradicating ignorance and provide basic skills to enhance self-reliance for youths, which will improve the nation:s economy.
“Proprietors should see this as a way of adding Filip to the federal government’s efforts in reducing the number of candidates that fail to gain admission annually.”
In his words, Alhaji Foloruso said the maiden matriculation ceremony that would hold at the campus of SAF Polytechnic on Friday 3rd of May at Iseyin has shown the signal that the institution has come to stay.
He said the management was not leaving any stone unturned in maximizing the opportunities provided by the institution for quality education by approaching various strategic education stakeholders to have more intake in the next admission exercise.
Present at the occasion of presentation of certificates to various proprietors of new private polytechnics and monotechnics in Nigeria was the Executive Secretary, NABTEB, Dr M.A Kazaurre and other members of the board and its officials.
