To lend their support to sacked council chairmen in the state, council secretaries, chiefs of staff to council bosses as well as supervisory councillors, who have also been relieved of their duties, have visited the secretariat of the Oyo State chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON.
OYO INSIGHT recalls that Governor Seyi Makinde, few hours after he was inaugurated, asked the council chairmen and others to vacate their seats.
This newspaper understands that the council bosses are in court to seek redress.
The visitors, who were represented at the ALGON’s Iyaganku office, by their coordinator, Hon. Abass Gbadegesin and publicity secretary, Hon. Moruff Korede, called on President Muhammed Buhari, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to intervene on what they called the reckless use of power by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led government in Oyo state.
This is just as they advised Makinde to emulate his counterpart in Ekiti, Governor Kayode Fayemi, who has directed the chairmen elected by the administration of former Ayo Fayose to report to their various council areas.
