A prominent Ibadan mogaji, Abass Oloko, has commended President Bola Tinubu and minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu, over the distribution of the federal government palliative in Oyo State.

Adelabu, it would be recalled, had on Saturday distributed over 10,000 bags of rice to different categories of people in the state.

The former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, had been handed the food item through the Federal Government, under the food security programme of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

It was distributed to associations, organisations and groups in Oyo State to cushion the effect of economic hardship in the state.

The distribution, which was the phase one of the food security programme in the state, was to mitigate the effect of fuel subsidy removal and biting inflation.

Oloko, while commending the initiative, said the distribution couldn’t have come at a better time.

“I want to commend President Bola Tinubu and minister of power who is our brother, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu for the distribution in the state. For me, it was a good initiative. This is not a political matter. I was there and I want to give kudos to the federal government.

”In no small way, it will cushion the effects of the hardship.

“The minister did well in the distribution. The way and manner by which it was done was transparent and the best. We were even surprised. All segments of the society benefitted from the gesture.

“I want to commend Oloye Adebayo Adelabu for deeming it to distribute it effectively and efficiently. I and other colleagues of mine were witnesses to this.

”Others in the minister’s shoes should not also forget to get everything they get in Abuja and elsewhere to get to the people irrespective of political party and religion. The minister would have rebranded it and said it was his own initiative but he didn’t. Others too should be transparent in their dealings, Oloko added.
