Rep Alao-Akala Petitions NASS Over Alleged Killing Of Corp Member By Policemen

The lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire federal constituency, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala yesterday petitioned the Green Chambers over the killing of a serving corp member in Oyo State.

The deceased, Damilola Iyanda, had been feared killed in a fight that broke out among students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, at a nightclub in the town few days ago.

Students were celebrating the institution’s convocation ceremony when the fight broke out.

Assuring justice, the youth All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmaker, who had visited the students and policie authority in his constituency, wrote on his social media: “On the floor of the hallowed chamber today, I presented a petition on behalf of the late Damilola Iyanda, a Corp member serving his country, whose life was tragically cut short by the monitoring unit of the Oyo State Police Command in Ogbomoso.

“Damilola Iyanda, before his untimely death, was serving in Ibadan, Oyo State, and was tragically killed on Tuesday 23rd of April, 2024, at Under G area in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

“As expected, this heartbreaking loss has caused immense sorrow for Damilola’s elderly parents, family, and friends.

“Immediately after the incident, I met with the Nigeria Police Force Area Commander in Ogbomoso, ACP Adigun, and he assured me of their commitment to justice as the erring officers have been suspended pending investigations.

“I have pledged to ensure that justice is given to Damilola, hence, the petition before the House today. All the erring officers must be brought to justice. RIP Damilola.”
