Taiwo Okunlola, a member of the board of the Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority, NEPZA, has been appointed chairman of the reconciliation set up by the youth wing of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State.
Aremu John Oyetunji, youth leader of the party, said the committee was approved after due consultation.
Okunlola, who hails from Oyo East local government, in his acceptance speech, said that “First and foremost, I would like to appreciate the State Chairman and other critical stakeholders whose brainchild is this initiative in inaugurating this committee to midwife much needed reconciliation among youths of our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC). I must state that it is an onerous task but we are fully prepared. We want to assure the leadership of the party of our unalloyed commitment to work assiduously to achieve these terms of reference.
“It should be emphasised that this Committee is not in competition with the Reconciliation Committee being championed by the elders of the party, rather a complimentary efforts as youth wing forms a critical component of the party. This committee is positioned to speak the language that youths understand.
“We understand their nuances, feelings and agitations.
“We will go all our ways as a committee to explore persuasive approach in reaching out to young ones across the thirty-three local government areas of Oyo State to ensure that our party coast home to victory in the 2023 elections.
“Knowing fully well that conflict is inevitable in human organizations. Therefore, this will serve as a veritable avenue to appeal to this population demographic to sheathe their swords to work for party common good and commonwealth. This will ultimately enhance much needed cohesion and consolidation that our great party requires for victory.
