His Touch Was Iconic — Tech-U Mourns Death Of Pro-Chancellor

The management of the Technical University, Ibadan has described as iconic the touches and contributions of its late Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe.

Prof. Obe, OYOINSIGHT.COM repoŕted, died on Sunday after a brief illness.

In a statement made available to this newspaper on Monday signed its Vice-chancellor, Prof. Ayobami Salami, the institution’s management described the late Obe as an erudite and resourceful scholar.

The statement read: “With a very heavy heart but in submission to the will of the Almighty God, I announce the passing onto glory of Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the First Technical University, Ibadan.

“The erudite, resourceful and highly impactful scholar, administrator and statesman breathed his last on Sunday, 3rd January, 2021.

“Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe was a globally renowned and celebrated university administrator. His iconic touch to the rapid progress and development of our university is real and apparent. The University Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff and Students, indeed, bear testimony to his indelible contributions to the acclaimed progress that Tech-U has recorded within the three and a half years of its existence. This explains the deep pain and sadness that enveloped the University when the news of his death broke out.

“Yet, we are consoled that he led such a dutiful, productive and impactful life. As we, therefore, commiserate with his family and His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, FNSE, Visitor to the University and the Chancellor, Chief Tunde Afolabi MFR, we wish Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe a peaceful everlasting rest and we pray that God accords his soul eternal rest.

“Adieu, our amiable Pro-Chancellor, Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe.”
