Ibadan branch of the Nigerian Bar Association has charged Oyo State’s Chief Registrar, Mrs Olumide Ogunrin, to publish her payslips.
This declaration was made in response to a rejoinder released by the Registrar.
Recall that on Monday, OYOINSIGHT.COM had reported how the NBA condemned and rejected the salary deductions affecting judicial staff by the Seyi Makinde led administration.
Responding to the NBA, the Chief Registrar noted that no deduction or reduction has been carried out on the salaries of judiciary staff in the state.
However, in a new statement released by the NBA, signed by its Chairman, Ibrahim Lawal, on Tuesday, it maintained that the Chief Registrar should publish her payslips if her claim is true.
The statement read:
“The leadership of the NBA just received the news of the denial of the alleged deductions from the salaries of Magistrates and Presidents of Grade A Customary Courts, via a statement signed by the Chief Registrar, Mrs Olumide Ogunrin, and we hasten to commend the judiciary for this uncharacteristic promptitude with which this matter has been treated.
”The leadership of the NBA is being, uncharitably, accused of lying. While we salute the judiciary for stating, categorically, that nothing of such has happened and that we should all be assured of the high premium with which all matters concerning the welfare of judicial officers, and indeed workers, will be handled, it is rather curious that anyone will attempt to deny what appears as a notorious fact in the State.
”Consequently, it is our desire to request, most humbly, that the Chief Registrar, Mrs Ogunrin, publish her pay slip, as well as the samples of other officers’ from January, 2025 to April, 2025. This publication will put to rest, absolutely, any controversies and/or set snide remarks regarding the payment of salaries and allowances of the judicial officers concerned at nothing.
”Our commitment towards upholding time-tested practices, which possess the potential deepening the independence of the judiciary, is not negotiable. The NBA leadership intends to sustain the relentless onslaught on all acts of injustice, under whatever guise or claim in the polity, especially in Oyo State, where our members undertake their professional endeavours. We are inheritors of an enviable heritage in this regard.
”We are determined to continue to expose all forms of malfeasance, regardless of status or calling of perpetrators.”
