Prof. Hammed Delivers UI’s 546th Inaugural Lecture Thursday

Professor Ayo Hammed of Department of Counseling and Human Development Studies, University of Ibadan will on Thursday, March 21, 2024, present the 546th edition of the premier university’s inaugural lecture series.

Titled “’We Die Here Today’: Youth Violence, Social Dysfunction and a Counseling Psychologist’s Pathway to Peace”, the lecture explores the subject of youth violence, its implications and how the society can take advantage of youths’ energy for the benefit of all.

According to the information from the university, the event will hold at 5 pm at the Trenchard Hall, and will be chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale.

Though, trained as counseling psychologist and a lecturer in the Faculty of Education, Prof Hammed has been actively involved in peace scholarship, advocacy and interventions for decades.

He was the acting director of the university’s Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies.
