A  physically challenged in Ibadan North Local Government area of Oyo state and convener of “Disables for Oyo Progress”, Wasiu Nurudeen has donated the sum of N120,000 to hire a legal practitioner to defend the Oyo state governor-elect, Oluseyi Makinde at the state election petition tribunal.
Nurudeen who disclosed this at a press conference in Ibadan on Wednesday said it is obvious that the mandate given to Makinde at the last governorship election was the true wish of the people of the state.
Victory of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last gubernatorial election in the state was challenged by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Adebayo Adelabu at the state governorship tribunal.
According to him,  he took the decision to defend the votes of the people in the state, especially the physically challenged whose despite their challenges went out en-mass to vote for the the PDP candidate.
Nurudeen said during the election, he promised and delivered over 5,000 votes for the governor-elect,  adding that he was amazed to hear that APC candidate, Chief Adelabu went to challenged the overwhelming mandate of Makinde at election tribunal.
“To prove my support for the governor-elect in our dear state, I have donated the sum of N120,000 to hire a competent lawyer for our governor. I took the step because I know the stress I went through before I could gather such massive votes for him in the election. This is the first time in the history of Ibadan North Local Government that a governorship candidate will gather 40,000 votes in Ibadan North.
“The only thing I am expecting from the governor-elect is good governance. Every group,  organisations, individuals, and the traditional insistitutions should feel the presence of government in the state.
“Though I have not handed over the money to him because I am aware that he is not around yet, but I will make sure I give it to him as soon as he is back to the country” he said.
