Youth representatives in the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Monday afternoon paid a solidarity visit to the private office of Raufu Olaniyan, who was last week removed as deputy to Seyi Makinde, governor of the state.
Olaniyan, OYOINSIGHT.COM understands, was removed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, dominated assembly who relied on the report of a panel that didn’t allow him deny allegations against him.
Jolted by the Igboho-born retired permanent secretary‘s defection from the PDP to the APC, the assembly had leveled allegations against him.
But exactly a week after his removal, the APC youths who visited Olaniyan assured him of their total support, adding that the party was glad to have him in their midst as his experiences in civil service and politics will be helpful in dislodging the incumbent administration in the 2023 election.
The state youth leader of the party, John Aremu; his deputy— Sayo Fatoki; senatorial youth leader in Oyo Central, Akin Akinwale; women leader in Oyo South, Fatima Hassan-Adeleke; media aide to minister of youth and sports, Titi Gbadamosi-Adebayo and a federal board member, Akeem Adetoyese, who all took turns to speak, commended Olaniyan for his rare resilience despite what they called intimidation and negligence.
They also described as rare the brave move to ditch the ruling party for the opposition APC, saying that in uncommon among politician.
According to them, the incumbent administration will not rule beyond May 29, 2023.
Reacting, Olaniyan thanked the APC youths for visiting, saying that he felt happier receiving them.
”I am happy for this visit and I hold you in high esteem. I am grateful. You’re a resourceful set of youth. I have listened to some of you talked and I can say I am impressed by your composure and qualities. Keep it up. I want to advise you to see yourselves as one. My door is always open to you. I will do whatever I can to ensure our party succeed in the next. There are lots of works to be done but I know we will laugh last,” he said.
