As part of his efforts to lend helping hands to fasting Muslims across the state, Ogbomoso-born Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC, commissioner in charge of stakeholders’ management, Mr Sunday Dare, has started distributing rice and other food items.
The gesture is one of the programmes under his Daniel Ayoola Dare (DAD) Foundation which he established early this year.
Dare, a former special adviser (media) and chief of staff to national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, recently organised a free eye test programme with free eye glasses provided for close to 1000 residents of his hometown.
The rice distribution, which began last week in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, is to continue till after many members of the party have been taken care of while many stakeholders and party leaders would be sorted.
Though Dare has yet to declare intention to contest any political position especially as 2019 beckons, rumours have it that he has his eyes on the governorship. Another unconfirmed report has it that he may contest Oyo North senatorial district election.
But speaking to Insight Oyo on the motivation for the gesture, Dare said it was out of his love for the people especially as the economy is just taking shapes. He said that apart from giving back to the society, “Ramadhan offers an opportunity to give, not only to the needy but every fasting Muslims. Everything is not politics. For now, I don’t have any political ambition but if I am called, I believe I am qualified in all ramifications..”
