Residents of some communities in Oyo Central senatorial district are in joyous mood as the lawmaker representing them in The Senate, Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu, has facilitated the repair of some damaged roads
Some of the damaged roads and bridges which cut across the 11 local government areas in the district have affected vehicular and economic activities of the people for many years.
Sunmonu, a former speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, who stated this when discussing the commencement of construction at FOUR of the sites she sponsored for construction, revealed that she began the process on 28 September 2017 when she personally wrote a number of letters to the Ecological Fund Office indicating that there were erosion challenges in certain areas.
WORK HAS BEGUN on FOUR sites, namely:
Site 1
Isokun, Along Arulogun/Gofamint Road, beside 2nd Cantonement, Akinyele LGA
Site 2
Orugbangba, Oki, leading from Ogungbade, Egbeda LGA
Site 3
Okuside, Fatokun, Moniya, Akinyele LGA (Leads to Akingbile)
Site 4
Sawmill Baba Love, Ogbere Moradeyo, Egbeda LGA
Sunmonu, OYO INSIGHT recalled, had also written on erosion challenges being faced in other locations spread across district for such intervention and work will begin in those other areas once the approval process is complete, her media office added.
The other areas include:
[1]Olu Afolabi, Ogese, Oyo East LGA
[2]Isale Oyo Ebu Carwash, Awujola Street, Atiba LGA
[3]Jare Emily Road, Oyo West LGA

Some other major infrastructure projects facilitated by Sunmonu where work has already begun include Olomi-Ijebu-Igbo in Oluyole LGA, while the Akanran Road in Ona-Ara LGA has been budgeted for.
The media office added that “You will also recall Sen. Sunmonu’s incomparable efforts towards putting the #Oyo-Ogbomosho express on the Federal radar, as well as the Ibadan-Ife express (Adegbayi axis).”
This is just as she was quoted as saying that “a true representative of the people should make the welfare of her constituents paramount in their mind.”
The lawmaker, who chairs The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs also said she would not relent until the best is achieved in terms of bringing the dividends of democracy to the door steps of the people of Oyo Central.
She however called for constituents’ continuous patience, support and cooperation as she continues to ensure projects are initiated and completed.
