PHOTOS: Oyo Student Builds Solar-Powered Automatic Hand Washing Unit To Curtail COVID-19 Spread

In a bid to curtail the spread of COVID-19, A 300 level student of the Department of Physics, Ajayi Crowther University, has built a solar-powered hand washing, rinsing, and drying unit.

At the display of the project which took place at the Oyo State ministry of education on Tuesday, the Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Students Matters, Hom. Olojede Victor stated that he feels joyous when students contribute their own quota to support the government.

He stressed that he will ensure the state government partner with the students in a bid to ensure the execution of the project in the state.

He also assured the public, especially students, that his office will not relent in its efforts to promote and support innovative ideas of students in the state.

Speaking at the test running of the prototype, the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun commended the students for investing their time to design a stress-free measure to prevent covid-19.

In his own remark, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Bisi Ilaka, applauded the students and enjoined other students in the state to emulate them.

 

The Permanent Secretary, Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Atere also congratulated the student for the brilliant innovation.

She said, “I want to appreciate you for this laudable innovation more importantly at a time when our youths are into internet frauds. You have created an idea that if the state government key into will also make you an employer of labour.”

Others who witnessed the display of prototype were the Commissioner for Education, Mr. Olasunkanmi Aremu Olaleye; Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Olawale Mogbonjubola; Directors at the ministry of Education, Science, and Technology; the SA to Governor on Sports Development, Mr. Tobi Oyewumi; Executive Adviser to the governor on Agr business, Mr. Debo Akande; SA to the governor on New Media, Mr. Olamide; official photographer to the Governor, Mr. Jesse Onoriode; among others.
