In spirit of the Christmas celebration and in furtherance of his humanitarian gesture, the Chief of Staff to Engr. Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi has put smiles to the faces of Ogbomoso and other Oyo State residents as he distributes various Christmas gift items such as food, live birds (chicken and turkeys) and goats.
Among those who benefited from the gifts were widows, old women, traditional rulers, clerics, youth, security agencies, INEC and others. Party members were also not left out.
The former Oyo assembly and House of Representatives’ member, who was present at the distribution, explained that “This is one of my philanthropic and non politically-motivated ways of giving back to the society and putting smiles on people’s faces. I have been doing this for years.”
Recall that Ogunwuyi, who hails from Ogbomoso South local government, in May 2021 also doled out various Sallah gifts to many residents of Ogbomoso.
While personally distributing some of the gift items in his residence in Ogbomoso, Ogunwuyi said “this gesture was borne out of my compassion and desire to see people celebrate this Christmas festival with joy.”
The people appreciated the former parliamentarian for putting himself in the shoes of the common man who may find it difficult to prepare sumptuous meal for his family at this period of festivity.
The Otunba Mayeloye of Ijeru Kingdom expressed hope that the act would encourage all other well-meaning people in the society to do all they can to help the common man at this time of festivity.
