Fun seekers are presently stranded at the Agodi gardens, Ibadan as flood has taken over the park.

One of them, who spoke to OYOINSIGHT.COM said the flood occurred after the about close to an hour rain that started around 3 pm.

Only in 2017, a lion mauled a man identified as Hamzat Oyekunle to death at Agodi zoo gardens, Ibadan.

The lion had accidentally attacked one of the attendants, Mr. Hamzat Oyekunle popularly known as Baba Olorunwa, who later died from injuries sustained from the incident. This was after he was said to have fed the lion for over five years and was known to have had a very good relationship with all the animals in the zoo.

The government had to close down the zoo and evacuate the lions pending further investigations.

Originally created in 1967 and managed by the Western region then, it was formerly called Agodi Zoological and Botanical Gardens.

However, in 1980, the infamous Ogunpa flood disaster in Ibadan,destroyed the garden; sweeping away most of the animals and left the place in a deplorable state.

Help came in 2012, when the administration of former governor Abiola Ajimobi decided to renovate it and in 2014 the new Agodi Gardens was re-opened.
