A tragedy was averted this morning on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, around FourSquare Church, Ajebo, as two vehicles- a sienna bus and a white Toyota hilux van, rammed into nearby bushes, pulling down three trees in the process.
An eyewitness, who identified himself as Festus, explained that “The accident occurred as a result of overspeeding and an attempt by the white Toyota Hilux van to overtake a towing vehicle from the rear.
“The towing vehicle was moving a vehicle slowly but the the driver of the Toyota car was unaware of the velocity of the speed. He was quite near before discovering. Hence, he swerved to the side and entered into the bush beside it.
“The Sienna bus behind it was also closely following the path of the Toyota car. There was no distance. Therefore, the driver also lost control. Both cars rammed into nearby bushes and three trees were pulled down by the two cars in the process.”
He added that “no life was lost as the passengers and drivers were in good conditions. Although the towing vehicle did not stop as it may be unaware of the accident it may have caused.”
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, have arrived the scene and attempts are being made to get the two cars back on the road.
