A House of Representatives member-elect from Oyo State, Abiola Shina-Peller, has said he is satisfied with whatever voting system that would be adopted on the inauguration day.

Shina-Peller, who has been elected to represent iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola federal constituency, said, “For me, I don’t mind. I am cool with any decision that the National Assembly management decides to take on the day of inauguration in terms of voting in the right person.”

This is coming as a major crisis is brewing on the method to be adopted in electing the presiding officers of the two chambers of the National Assembly during inauguration in June.

According to Punch, while the ruling All Progressives Congress is pushing for open ballot system, some lawmakers-elect have vowed that the election must be by open-secret ballot as contained in the rule books currently being used by the Senate and House of Representatives.

It was further gathered that while some lawmakers were ready to align with the position of the APC on the matter, some others are opposed to it.

It was learnt that the ruling party was insisting on the open ballot system of voting in order to identify lawmakers-elect who would vote against the party’s choices for the positions of principal officers.
