Top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the four local government areas of Oyo town, shunned the distribution of palliatives termed Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery, SAfER, in the federal constituency, OYOINSIGHT.COM can report.
This, this newspaper understands, was despite the fact that ‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, was around.
Held at the Ọba Adeyemi III arcade, leaders like Bisi Ilaka, Kameel Akinlabi, Ademola Santos, Moruf Atilola, Idowu Oyeleke, Samuel Elegbede, Bayo Adébáyọ̀, Baba Agbo, Siju Salam, Quadri Olatunji, Lukman Adeyanju, Fatai Obabi, Adébáyọ̀ Adeyemi, and hosts of others were conspicuously missing at the event.
Also absent were the four campaign coordinators of the governor in the federal constituency.
Monsurat Sunmonu and council chairmen in the areas were, however, present.
Sources told OYOINSIGHT.COM that their absence cannot be unconnected with the way Makinde neglected them in their sharing of political positions in the ancient town.
“They were absent because the aboriginal PDP members have been sidelined in the scheme of things. How do you expect them to come when Governor Makinde doesn’t reckon with them? They are left with nothing. The governor doesn’t listen to any of them except Senator Sunmonu. They are angry and have resorted to siddon look approach,” a source said.
