In what many party members referred to as imposition by another method, Governor Abiola Ajimobi has dished out tickets to some aspiring House of Representatives’ aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State.
Rather than allow primaries to take place, he is asking aspirants to step down for his anointed candidates in each of the 14 federal constituencies, OYO INSIGHT exclusively gathered.
Party members, who had trouped out to venues of the primaries early in the morning, waited endlessly as the governor was busy asking aspirants to step down.
For AFIJIO, Atiba, Oyo East and Oyo West federal constituency, the current Reps member, Prince Akeem Adeyemi was favoured above his two-term predecessor, Hon. Kameel Akinlabi. If primaries holds, sources told OYO INSIGHT, Skimeh, as Adeyemi is called, would carry the day just like he defeated Akinlabi in the 2015 primaries.
Though he bought nomination forms to contest Oyo Central senatorial election, Hon. Temitope Olatoye Sugar is to fly the APC flag in the Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency election, where he currently represents.
NairaBet founder, Oloye Akin Alabi would have defeated his opponents but he is the governor and party’s choice for Egbeda / Ona Ara federal constituency seat. He was set to have put smiles on the faces of his people, even more than the current occupant.
In Oluyole federal constituency, Ajimobi’s cousin and current special adviser, Mrs Tolu Shadipe was considered ahead of Hon. Jide Adewale and Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan
Hon. Olusegun Odebunmi would be contesting to represent Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere federal constituency for the third consecutive terms. The former council boss was first elected in 2011.
In Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire, Ajimobi has settled for the speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olagunju Ojo, who is completing his second term in the Assembly.
For Irepo, Oorelope and Olorunsogo federal constituency, Mr. Olumide Ojerinde, son of immediate past Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. ‘Dibu Ojerinde, is governor’s choice. Ajimobi’s former information commissioner and incumbent, Barr. Bosun Oladele, who is said to have done excellently well, was not considered because he is independent minded.
Younger brother of Oyo’s ‘most powerful woman’, Mrs Olawumi Ogunesan, Hon. Olajide Olatunbosun is the governor and party’s choice for ATISBO, Saki East, Saki West federal constituency.
In Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa and Kajola federal constituency, Quilox owner and son of late famous magician, Chief Moshood Peller, Shina Peller would fly the party’s flag.
Ex-council boss and immediate past education commissioner, Prof Adeniyi Olowofela is the governor’s choice for Ido/Ibarapa federal constituency.
The exit of son of late former governor Lamidi Adesina, Adedapo Lam-Adesina, from the party has paved way for Mr Dejo Aboderin to be the governor’s preferred choice for Ibadan North East / Ibadan South East federal constituency.
