Oyo South 2027: Oseni Recalls Days As Bus Conductor, Donates N10m To Apete Widows

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Remi Oseni, has donated N10 million to widows from Awotan, Apete and neighbouring communities in Ibadanland.

Oseni, who represents Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, announced the donation on Tuesday at a meeting with hundreds of widows held at D’Ace Hall, Awotan, Ibadan.

The meeting formed part of his ongoing political consultations across Oyo South, where he interacted with the women and listened to concerns affecting their families, businesses and livelihoods.

Oseni, who also chairs the House Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), said his support for vulnerable people was influenced by his experience growing up under difficult circumstances.

Recalling his early years, the lawmaker said he once worked as a bus conductor, an experience he said taught him the value of hard work, resilience and appreciating little beginnings.

He said supporting widows and market women was not merely about politics, but part of his commitment to society and his relationship with God.

“The more I give, the more God blesses me. I pray every day that God should give me more so that I can give more to the society. My joy is to see people happy,” Oseni said.

The APC candidate also condemned alleged political intimidation in Oyo State, particularly the destruction of campaign billboards belonging to opposition parties.

He urged anyone who witnessed acts of violence or the alleged movement of firearms by political actors to report them to security agencies, stressing that political disagreements should not degenerate into violence.

“We say no to voters’ apathy, and we say no to rigging. We say no to intimidation of voters. Politics must be played with decorum. People must be allowed to vote freely for candidates of their choice without coercion, harassment or fear,” he said.

Oseni also reiterated his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda, urging his supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

The event ended with prayers and goodwill messages from the widows, who expressed appreciation for the donation and pledged their support for Oseni and President Tinubu in 2027.
