Following his suspension from the Social Democratic Party, SDP, a former speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Kehinde Ayoola, has said the leadership of the party had agreement to endorse Engr. Seyi Makinde, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
According to the Oyo-born politician who had last led the SDP to endorse Makinde, “We acted in consonance with the CUPP resolution of March 2018 to the effect that we should produce a synergy against APC at all levels.”
A statement sent to OYO INSIGHT, reads: “We acted in obedience to our leaders in Afenifere who also endorsed that synergy as well because of restructuring which only the PDP is championing now.
“We acted based on an understanding that had existed between the National Exco and Oyo State Exco that we would support Seyi Makinde.
“Anyway, the ship has sailed on that issue, our resolution still stands that the entire members of SDP shall support Engr Seyi Makinde in the 2019 elections.”
