A former deputy speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly during the aborted second republic, Chief Joseph Adesokan, is dead.
According to Nigerian Tribune, he died at 82.
He was a deputy speaker between 1979 and 1983 on the banner of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) during the late Chief Bola Ige administration.
One of his children, Mr Segun Adesokan, a lawyer and former special adviser on Due Process to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, confirmed the news.
The deceased, it was learnt, was a staunch leader in the progressive circle.
He was also a former commissioner during Lam Adesina’s Administration in the state.
