In a right move to finally nip the issue of illegal waste disposal/management in the bud within the state, the Oyo State government through the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has decentralised the waste management sector. This move the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources explained will lead to the coming together of strong forces working as a formidable team to deliver a very effective waste management system that will cater adequately to the state’s needs in ensuring a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.

To this effect, the state government has engaged the services of Alluvia UC (an organisation with vast experience in the circular economy sector and work experience across all the geo-political zone of Nigeria) as a consultant alongside others to achieve the set goal.

In a statement released by the organisation’s communications lead Temitope Lawal, she noted that the short-term aim of this project is for sanity and orderlinesses to be instilled into waste generation and disposal around the state where everyone must OWN THIER ACTION by doing the right thing to protect the environment and on the long run permanently imbibing the culture of circularity into every citizen of the state.

Ms. Lawal noted that it is high time Oyo State sets the pace again on this pertinent issue affecting almost all the States in the country and this we can only achieve if we collectively join hands with Architect Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, the Hon Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources to set things right.

We must all play our individual role in promoting a healthy, safer and cleaner society.
