    Iyabo Yerima, chief judge of Oyo State, may use 5 more years with the signing into law by Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s president, the amendment bill on uniformity in retirement age of judicial officers, OYOINSIGHT.COM has learnt.
    Retirement age and pension rights of judicial officers have been effectively brought into uniformity and other related matters, with the signing into law the bill by Tinubu on Thursday.
    OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that until Thursday, high court judges retire at 65 years while it is 70 years for their counterparts in the court of appeal and the supreme court.

    The new law extends the retirement age of high court judges like Yerima, who would be 65 in September to 70 years.

    While signing the amendment bill into law, President Tinubu pledged his administration’s dedication to strengthening the judiciary, ensuring the rule of law, and empowering judicial officers to execute their responsibilities effectively.
