A consistent and unassuming politician, Dr Akintunde is the toast of all, including both young and old. He is experienced, both in public and private enterprises and he has, in no small measure, been exposed to the nitty-gritty of governance.

Humble, amiable, kind and articulate, Dr Akintunde was born on March 6, 1962 in Onikanko Compound, Pakoyi, Oyo Town, where he attended Ansar-Ud-Deen Model Primary School, Balogun, Oyo Town. He had since added knowledge to knowledge and today he has the distinction of becoming the first Nigerian to bag a doctorate degree in Energy and Environment.

Resilient and reliable, it is not surprising that he had been found worthy to serve the public in governance. At the inception of the third republic in 1999, he was appointed commissioner in Oyo State Civil Service Commission (between 1999 and 2003). Then he served the good people of Oyo State as Commissioner for Works and Transport between August 2011 and November 2012, in the first term of Gov Abiola Ajimobi (2011 – 2015). He had also been trusted and did not disappoint with the handling of party assignments. He was Chairman, APC State Registration Committee for Osun State (January 2014); Chairman, APC State Congress Committee for Kwara State (April 2014); Member, APC House of Representatives (serving members) Aspirants Screening Committee (December, 2014).

Having distinguished himself with his past strategic and sensitive responsibilities, his foray into the senatorial race has been seen by many as the entrance of a worthy choice for Oyo Central Senatorial District. His antecedents indicates that he will be a good and effective representative of the good people of Oyo Central Senatorial District in the 10th Senate.

Sodipo takes avid interest in national and local politics. He writes from Ibadan, Oyo State.
