An aspirant for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Hon. Akinjide Kazeem Akinola, has cancelled the planned annual celebration slated for 14th June, 2025.
This, according to Akinola, is to honour one of his closest associates, Hon. Olaoye Oluseye Samuel, who died early this week during a brief illness.
In a personally signed statement, the All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain said he was shocked by the passing of Olaoye, describing his demise as one too heavy to come to terms with.
“I am shocked by the death of Hon. Olaoye Oluseye Samuel, who was to me an ally turned family member. I met him in my bid to represent our people. His hands on experience came handy for me as he was always there to mobilize support and provide valuable information.
“The death came to me as a rude shock because we never saw it coming. I had hope he was recuperating until he passed on. It will take us time at our campaign organization to get over this loss.
“While we mourn and commiserate with our selves as well as family and friends he left behind, I have decided to cancel the planned Eid party that we do annually to bring members of our party, religious leaders as well as supporters together. It wasn’t even because he was an integral part of the planning team, he was leader in my political organization.
“We are in talk with the family to give him a befitting burial he deserves as well as know how best to immortalize my wonderful brother who just left us. I commiserate with family and friends. I commiserate members of our political family as well as the APC in Oyo and especially in Egbeda and Ona Ara local government. His journey may be short but impactful. All our political meetings and movement are, for now, suspended, till further notice,” the statement added.
