Oyo APC Empties SDP In Oluyole LG As Adeyemo Receives Defectors
The entire structures of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) were, on Tuesday, collapsed into the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the defection of party leaders, Executive Committee members and others who were formally received by the APC State Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo.
The defectors led by the overall leader of the SDP in Oluyole local government area, Mogaji Saheed Oyewale, who was also the candidate of the party for the Constituency seat in Oyo State House of Assembly seat in 2023. He was joined by the party’s Chairmanship candidate in the 2024 local government council election, Mr. David Arowolo.
The Chairman of the APC in Oluyole local government area, Prince Dotun Oladipupo, and Oyo APC’s Financial Secretary, Comrade Tunde Akanbi, accompanied the defectors to the Oke-Ado State Secretariat of the Broom Party where they other key members of State Executive Committee were on hand to receive them.
Mogaji Oyewale, while speaking at the event, disclosed that the decision to collapse the structures of the SDP into APC in Oyo state was informed by the zeal to be part of the realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who, according to him, has done enough to convince the whole world that he was the best thing to have happened to Nigeria since 1960.
“We decided to join the APC because appreciate the good work of President Tinubu and as patriots, we cannot afford to stay away when we be a part of the success story. I am using this medium to announce the total collapse of the SDP not only in Oluyole local government area but also in many local government councils across the state. Virtually all the people who matter in the SDP will join the APC in a matter of weeks and I can assure that we will all work for our new party to win big in 2027.” Oyewale said.
Chief Moses Adeyemo, in his address, congratulated the defectors on their choice of APC “which remains the only political party that is worth its name in the country. Just last week, President Tinubu flagged off the dualization project of the road which links Ibadan with Ijebu-Ode and that alone is a testament to the commitment of the APC to improving quality of lives of Nigerians. Our doors are widely open and we want every patriot to join us so that we could all key into the Nigerian Project”.
Key leaders among the defectors included; Mr. Ganiyu Lawal (SDP chairman in Oluyole LGA), Adetunji Adewale (Secretary), Mrs. Taiwo Lasisi (Woman Leader), Muritala Jeje (Youth Leader), Afeez Agbongbon (PRO), Mukaila Olayinka (Chairman of Ward Chairmen), all Local Government and Ward Executive Committee members from the 10 Wards among other party members and supporters while the State Secretary of the APC, Hon. Fatai Adesina was also on hand to receive them.
