Oyo 2027: “It Was Because Of Me Our Names Got On INEC Portal” – Adegoke, ADC Guber Candidate

A video showing a governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, FCA, has stirred fresh reactions over the names of candidates submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 elections.
In the video, recorded during a meeting with some party members and leaders in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the governorship candidate claimed that his name, alongside the names of other candidates from his faction contesting the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats, was initially not on the INEC portal.
Adegoke further said the eventual appearance of the names on the portal was due to his intervention and what he described as God’s intervention.
“The names of these people seated here were not on the INEC portal. It was I and God who made it possible for our names to appear on the portal,” he was quoted as saying.
The development comes amid an unresolved leadership and ticket dispute within the ADC in the state, with rival factions laying claims to the party’s candidates for various elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The statement has now drawn attention to the process through which the names of the affected candidates appeared on the INEC portal and the role allegedly played by the factional governorship candidate in the process.
The video has further raised concerns within the party over whether an individual aspirant could influence the listing of candidates on the commission’s portal, while some are seeking clarification on the process followed in the case of the disputed candidates.
The reactions have also prompted calls for INEC to explain what role Adegoke played in the appearance of the names and whether the process was consistent with the commission’s established procedures for the submission and publication of candidates.
