In a bid to boost the chances of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is leaving no stone unturned.

Yesterday, he opened talks with former governor Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo State.

Ladoja, Tinubu’s former governor-colleague, is leading the talks by opposition parties to merge against APC ahead next week’s governorship election.

Tinubu and Ladoja, OYO INSIGHT learnt, became friends during the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, struggles after which they later became senators. Both later became governors of their respective state. Ladoja, it is believed, got cover from Tinubu when he was illegally impeached by members of the Oyo State House of Assembly loyal to late Chief Lamidi Adedibu.

Tinubu has been meeting people following the Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s failed senatorial bid, and especially in order to brighten the chances of Adelabu.

Only last week, Tinubu completed what political analysts described as the signing of former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala who left APC in October and was governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, before Friday.

During their long telephone chat, sources confided in OYO INSIGHT, Ladoja was said to have ‘discharged’ Tinubu by telling him that “Let’s continue talking.”

If Ladoja agrees, the governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, Barr. Sharafadeen Alli, will dump the party, alongside Ladoja and others for the APC.

Apart from Ladoja, Tinubu is talking to virtually everybody that matters in the state, OYO INSIGHT understands.
