As the race for the 2019 gubernatorial election continues to gather momentum in Oyo State, it seems like the gods have started pouring their blessings on one of the foremost candidates.
The governorship aspirant under the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe on Friday, was on a courtesy visit to His Imperial Majesty, the Alaafin of Oyo, Ikú Bàbá Yèyé, Aláse Èkejì Òòsà, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi III.
During this quite remarkable visit, Tegbe officially expressed his governorship aspiration to the royal father, declaring his intention and determination to deploy his experience to consolidate on progressive governance and make Oyo state rise to the top again consolidating on the gains of Gov Ajimobi.
The Alaafin while receiving him at his palace first described Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as their true born son in whom they are well pleased. He further described him as a man who is full of humility and respect, while assuring him that the people of Oyo town are firmly behind him. Iku Baba Yeye, capped off by giving his endorsement and royal blessings to Tegbe, wishing him God’s blessings in his governorship ambition.
Earlier, Tegbe, who currently serves as a Senior Partner and Head of the Technology Advisory Services and Markets of a global management advisory firm, and Chairman of the National Council for Management Development [NCMD], had also paid a courtesy visit to the Eleruwa of Ewura, Oba Samuel Adegbola last week.
In a similar vein, Oba Samuel Adegbola warmly received Tegbe and praised him for his intention to consolidate on the efforts of the outgoing government, considering his preparedness and expertise. The royal father furthermore reiterated great support for Tegbe’s campaign slogan of “Make Oyo First Again”, emphazing the influential position of Oyo state used to be in the country and made it clear that he will happy to see the state back in its pace setting way.
Thanking the Alafin and Eleruwa, Tegbe said, his contract with the people of Oyo state is to make Oyo State a world class agro based industrial hub and an attractive investment destination. He also reiterated his commitment to growing and exporting the rich culture of Oyo State.
“Oyo State is a very culturally rich state that has the potential to attract tourist, expose all areas of the state to the international community bring economic fortunes to all parts of the state.
On education, Tegbe said Oyo State is blessed to have the first University in Nigeria and there is more that can be achieve. He said, today, degree holders abandon their degree and attend internationally recognized fashion schools in London, New York, Paris and many other places. We even now import artisans from our neighboring countries.
Those are gaps we can bridge to deliver qualitative access to education. He said his education blueprint for the state is to go further and get internationally certified technical studies and school so we can become a net exporter of quality human resources.
With this plethora of royal blessings and endorsement for Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe by the royal fathers, is the road clear for Tegbe in the forthcoming APC primaries? At least, he whom the gods bless.
