Oyo 2019: Shittu Renews ‘War’ With Ajimobi, Purchases Governorship Form

Less than 72-hour After Governor Abiola Ajimobi hinted that he would meet the over 30 governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to reduce them to 4, communications minister, Alhaji Adebayo Shittu will obtain his nomination form today in Abuja, OYO INSIGHT learnt last night.

Ajimobi had, during last Thursday’s Oyo Central senatorial district meeting of the APC, explained that he doesn’t want aspirants to waste their money and to prevent such, he would like to meet them so as to reduce them to 4.

OYO INSIGHT learnt that each governorship aspirant would pay N2.5m for expression of interest form and N20m for nomination form making it N22.5m.

The governor had fixed tomorrow, 8th September 2018 for the meeting.

Shittu contested the 2015 APC governorship primaries with Ajimobi. It took many months to get Shittu settle out of court.

Ajimobi would later oppose President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment of Shittu as minister. It was later settled after many influential Nigerians waded in.

The APC had few days ago release the guidelines and fees for elective positions as the 2019 elections draw near.

With the sale of the forms closing on Monday, it means those seeking elective posts on the platform of the APC have four days to pay the fees.

Ajimobi and Shittu have always disagreed with each other and it has become worse since both found themselves in the same party. At any given opportunity, they fire each other.
