Ahead of the governorship poll in Oyo State, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Engr. Seyi Makinde has said that he is open to alignment talks with other opposition parties in the state.
Makinde, who spoke while addressing journalists at his Omi Titun campaign office, Idi Ape, said that “Never again will anybody rule without the mandate of the people of Oyo State.”
He spoke on the sideline of the senatorial victory of the PDP in Oyo South won by Dr Kola Balogun.
OYO INSIGHT recalled that the candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, had last week convened the meeting of opposition political parties in the state at his Awosika, Bodija residence.
This is just as Makinde said that the party will challenge election results in Oyo Central senatorial district and Ibadan North federal constituency.
He alleged that the All Progressives Congress, APC, deliberately connived with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare election results in Ibarapa Central/ North federal constituency inconclusive. He, however, expressed optimism that his party would win.
Condemning the death of a 25-year old Monsuru Amusat at Kudeti area of Ibadan South East local government, Makinde observed a minute silence for the deceased. He said he had sent representatives to the family of the deceased, promising to personally visit the family.
Makinde alleged that “the APC leaders are the ones encouraging the killings and banditry all because they want to remain power and plant their successors as if they are God.”
He thanked the people of Oyo South senatorial district for voting Balogun, describing it as an historical event.
“Despite intimidations, naked use of executive power and obscene deployment of billions of government money, our people decided to stay on the path of honour.
“They told Ajimobi that though they are poor materially, but no tyrant can take away their pride and self esteem. Only a people galvanized by the truth and propelled by what is just can perform such heroics. That was exactly what you have done and I doff my hat.
“Once the constituted authority is out of the way, what can the godson do.”
