A group under the aegis of Okeogun Grassroots Politicians, whose membership cuts across all party lines, has tipped the Oyo State commissioner for land, housing and survey, Hon. Ajiboye Omodewu to be the running mate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, because, according to them, has acquired all the expected criteria to run a joint ticket on the platform of party.
The party had submitted the names of the chairman of Iganna local council development area, Hon. Samuel Egunjobi as its tentative deputy governorship candidate.
Coordinator of the group, Hon Agbaje, said that “apart from his educational background that took him to the New York City University and MBA graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University gand and LLB in view from one of our reputable university in Nigeria,” he had also garnered political experience being the only commissioner from Okeogun that started together with Governor Abiola Ajimobi in 2011 and know the operational method of the system.
The group emphasized that it is going to be unfair to the good people of Itesiwaju local Government if the the party fails to have anyone that will be contesting on the platform of the party on February 16th, 2019 for national elections as well as on the day of governorship election in the whole of Okeogun 1 federal constituency, unlike Iwajowa and Kajola that have their own own individual state constituencies.
They added that the Iseyin/Itesiwaju state constituency seat has become birth right of Iseyin local government. “Even the present 8th House of Representatives’s member from Iseyin, Iwajowa, Kajola and Itesiwaju federal constituency is occupied by Hon Abiodun Olasupo from Iseyin and to our surprise, the ticket has been given to Shina Peller from Iseyin again.
“The feelers across all the 10 local government areas of Okeogun area have shown that the people of the area are yearning for Omodewu as Adelabu’s running mate and our independent sampling has also affirmed that claim and thus we endorse and recommend Omodewu to run with Adelabu
Agbaje, who hails from Irepo local government, said he will be extremely happy if the party can organise a primary for those interested in running with Adelabu on the platform of APC to finally know who is sellable. He said he’s confident Omodewu will garner 90 per cent of any number of the total votes cast.
He called the attention of the party to the recent nominations of Engr Rauf Olaniyan as the running mate of Engr. Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and that of Hon. Adejare Saheed Alaran as running mate of Sen Olufemi Solagbade Lanleyin of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, saying that anything sort of heavyweight politicians like Omodewu to slug it out with aforementioned politicians from Okeogun may spell doom for the party in the area.
