Oyo 2019: Ayorinde Wins ANRP Guber Primaries

Mr Olalekan Ayorinde has been declared winner of the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party, ANRP, governorship primaries in the Oyo State.

The party national secretary, Mr Ebere Okonkwo, declared him winner after

polling 99 votes to defeat his challenger, Mrs Bolanle Sarumi Aliyu  who had 1 vote at just concluded direct primaries election held at Jogor Event Center in Ibadan, the state capital. The election was conducted by INEC electoral college and monitored by party officials.

Okonkwo disclosed that 102 party delegates were accredited but the outcome of election showed that only 100 votes were casted while 2 votes were canceled and declared invalid.

The election which was slated to start around 9 am in the morning was delayed till 5.30pm due to some circumstances  which was later addressed by personnels of the electoral college from Abuja. And also as a result of the hiccups brought up by Mrs Sarumi Aliu over the status of some of her supporters who didn’t have a valid party identity card to qualify them in the electoral process.

Aliyu later the venue before the election took place after her rigorous strategies to bring in her supporters failed having not met the party rules and guidelines.

Ayorinde, in his acceptance speech, thanked all party members who stood by him all through the process, promising to be a loyal party representative and also bring the desired change expected to Oyo State.

He implored residents to desist from vote selling as this will deny them their civic power to choose the right people to power but also set the state and the country backwards.

Moreover, he promised that his administration, if given the opportunity, will not only reposition the state for good but also spread across the dividends of democracy to all and sundry.

Meanwhile, Mr John .O. Bamibe from Ido constituency, Mr Ayorinde Olukunle from Ibarapa North East 1 and Mr Adebisi Olufemi from ATISBO/Saki East have been declared winner under the party to contest for state assembly seat.
