The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has affirmed that Senator Monsurat Sunmonu of the African Democratic congress, ADC, seeking re-election to the Nigerian Senate will always come victorious in any election she contested.
The royal father stated emphatically that since Sunmonu joined politics in 2011 she had never betrayed the trust and confidence the people of Oyo town had for her and has always been in the forefront of championing the progress of the town.
A statement by the lawmaker’s media office quoted the monarch as making the endorsement during a recent campaign visit.
He then called on the people of Oyo Central in general to rally support for Sunmonu who, the monarch said, has used her position to facilitate many infrastructural development projects and numerous people’s oriented programmes in the constituency.
Oba Adeyemi cited the best quality leadership styles of senator Sunmonu while as the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly without any crisis or blemish on her personality for the four years, according to Alafin of OYO, he said this is even enough for the people of oyo central to vote her in once again.
In her response, Sunmonu thanked the royal father, Alaafin of oyo and all the people of oyo central for believing in her.
She stated that she would not disappoint the people of Oyo central if voted for once again while also appreciating their supports all the while, she added that she would concentrate on her various programme and projects which will have direct meaningful impact on their lives.
Sunmonu cited her giant stride on the issue of infrastructure which includes the facilitation of the rehabilitation of oyo ogbomosho express way, Ibadan Oyo expressway, Olomi-ijebu road, Alakia Adegbayi road Ife expressway. The inclusion of Akanran Ona Ara.
She explained that good road network across her constituency will always be her priority, because it would benefit not only the people of oyo central alone but will also benefit other road users.
Sunmonu, who chairs the senate committee on foreign affairs said the grading of roads she embarked on over the past 2 to 3months was borne out of her desire to reduce and alleviate the sufferings posed by the deplorable condition of roads within her constituency.
