In order for him to have more time to prepare for the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State, OyoInsight can confirm that Oloye Adebayo Adelabu has resigned his appointment as deputy governor (operation) of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
A top source informed OyoInsight that the 48-year old banker dropped his resignation letter on 16th April, 2018, one year to the expiration of his 5-year tenure.
The decision, it was learnt, was to allow him consult major stakeholders and strategise in order for him to achieve his dream of succeeding Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
For close to two years, he has been reaching out to people through his Bayo Adelabu Foundation, an action which first made people to suggest he has his eyes on the number seat.
Only last year, the grandson of late politician- Alhaji Adegoke Adelabu, was appointed as chairman of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund.
Though efforts by OyoInsight to speak with Adelabu proved abortive, it was learnt that the young banker would make an open declaration to contest the seat under the All Progressives Congress, APC.
