Oyelese Congratulates Makinde Over Cash Award To Workers, Pensioners

Former Minister for Special Duties and Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in Oyo State, Elder Wole Oyelese has commended the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde over the payment of monthly cash award of N25,000 to workers and N15, 000 to Pensioners in the state to cushion the effects of removal of subsidy on the petroleum products by the Federal Government.

It could be recalled that Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday, declared that workers and pensioners in the state would receive a monthly cash award of N25,000 and N15,000 respectively for the next six months.

Elder Oyelese, who is also the Co-Chairman, Elders’ Council in Governor Makinde’s cabinet, in a statement on Tuesday congratulated the Governor for the laudable assistance to workers saying the action gladdened his heart and the hearts of majority of the people and leaders of the state.

He said in the statement copies of which were made available to journalists “Congratulations all round your Excellency. You have indeed gladdened the hearts of all your well wishers by your prompt and timely response to the Oyo state workforce.

“The payment of the wage award to the workers and extension of your compassion to the pensioners are highly commendable.

“It is no wonder the National Association of Nigeria Students, (NANS) among other organisations see in you a patriot worthy of recognition. May the Lord continue to elevate you and grant you uncommon favour in the Name of Jesus, Amen.

“My very warm felicitations”.

Makinde has after the announcement of the cash award noted that the workforce and the people of the state would have to work with the state government to develop the economy of the state for the long term, as according to him, once there is economic prosperity in the state, everyone would be touched.
