In a statement made available to this newspaper, the grassroot politician described the late Alao-Akala as a man who always put his people first.

“Our paths crossed in 1999 when he was council chairman and I was personal assistant to late former governor Lamidi Adesina. He was a good man. And I can say it was my late leader, Great Lam, who cemented our relationship.

”On Monday, we chatted. The message he sent got delivered at 15:59 pm. I didn’t know he was in Abuja and by the time I got to town yesterday,  he had left for Ogbomoso. It is so sad.

“Alao Akala was a politican different form others for various. Foremost among these reasons is the fact that he always put the people first,” Ibikunle began.

He noted that Akala’s impact on the lives of people both in and out of office means it would be almost impossible for his good name to die with him.

“I pray God grants his family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear his loss,” he added.
