OMO OLOORE SPORTS FIESTA: Excitement As Lam-Adesina Rewards Winners With Cash, Kits, Others

Winners of the first-ever Omo Oloore First Ever Federal Constituency Schools Sports Competition smiled home with prizes ranging from cash to sports equipment.

The competition was sponsored by Hon. Adedapo Lam Adesina, who represents Ibadan North East/South East Federal
Constituency at the House of Representatives, Abuja.

At the finals of the football competition played at St. Luke’s College, Molete, Ibadan yesterday, United Secondary School, Agugu, defeated Community Grammar School, Kudeti 6 to 5 goals via penalties.

The competition was packaged under the Omo Oloore Sports Development Scheme for Public and Private Primary/Secondary Schools to discover and nurture budding talents who will bring glory to the Constituency, the State and the Country at large.

The preliminaries of the competition, which involved soccer and athletics took place at different centres, such as St. Luke’s College, Molete, Oke-‘Badan High School, Oluyoro and Lagelu Grammar School, Agugu. 

Over eighty (80) public and private primary/secondary schools across the constituency participated in the preliminaries.

The finals of the soccer competition for private primary, public primary and private secondary schools had taken place last Monday at Oke-‘Badan High School.

In the private primary category, Tarbiyalitul Islamiyahh Nur/Pry School played against Joster Group of Schools while Lam Adesina Model School locked horns with St. David’s Pry School, Kudeti at the public primary school category.

At the second school category, Marvelous Group of Schools played against Caleepha Model College while in the public school category, Community Grammar School, Kudeti lost to United Secondary School, Agugu.

The event was preceded by some Athletics finals such as 100m (boys and girls), 200m (boys and girls), 400m (boys and girls) and relay (boys and girls).

Apart from the different sizes of trophies that were presented, winners and participating schools went home with complete jerseys, soccer boots, shin guards, balls among others.

In his remarks, Commissioner for Education in Oyo State, Prof. Joseph Olowofela who was represented by Alh. Biliaminu Olayiwola, commended the honourable for his pragmatic efforts in reviving the educational standards in the state.

He maintained that the state government was always thankful for the unique collaborative efforts of Lam-Adesina in ensuring enabling environments, impartation of qualitative education.

While addressing the gathering, the youthful politician expressed joy over the success of the competition, charging concerned stakeholders in the education sector to brace up in salvaging the falling standard of education at all levels.

This is just as he mplored parents and guardians to allow their wards to engage in sporting activities of their choice as that would help in sharpening their reasoning and quick assimilations of learning.

He reassured the students and teachers’ bodies of his support in uplifitng the standards of the education by facilitating many more academic oriented projects to schools across his constituency.

Lam-Adesina, who spoke at the event via  a telephone conversation used the occasion to thank people of his constituency, supporters and party faithful for their steadfastness and resilience, promising to continue to do their biddings regardless of distraction and intimidation by the opposition groups.

At the event were the executives of Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT), Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), sports enthusiasts, students from different schools, Community Development Council(CDC), scores of promoters of African Democratic Congress, ADC and socio-political groups from Ibadan North East and South East local government areas of the state.
