This came exactly 7 days after sacked chairmen took over their respective council areas across the state. They acted on a letter written to Governor Seyi Makinde and 12 other governors. While the sacked chairmen took over control in Oyo State, it was not the same in the 12 other states.

Popoola, who resumed this morning, became chairman following the sacking of Prince Abass Alesinloye, who is the chairman of the sacked chairmen.

The youthful council boss, while addressing the crowd, advised Oluyole residents to shun act of hooliganism and join hands with Makinde government and his administration for the progress of the council and Oyo State in general.

He later received executives of Agara Community and Olonde Landlords’ Associations who came to seek for Popoola administration’s assistance to repair their dilapidated roads and health infrastructures which, they said, were left undone by the immediate past administration.

Popoola,!therefore, told the gathering that members of striking Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, would soon resume to their duty post as normalcy as returned to local government areas “and the skirmishes of the last few days is what’s expected when anti-democratic agents are bent on continuing with their looting spree.”

At the council secretariat were the member representing Oluyole state constituency, Hon Francis Adetunji, Hon Ayo Adedeji, Oyo State Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Engr Akeem Olatunji, the chairman of the party in the council, Alh Mukaila Adegbola, Makinde’s liaison officer, Hon Olumide Akinlade Okelawa, and many other leaders.
