The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji and his estranged high chiefs, who were elevated to crown-wearing Obas by former governor Abiola Ajimobi, have fixed Monday, August 19, 2019, after the Id-el-Kabir festival, for another peace meeting.
OYO INSIGHT had reported how the estranged high chiefs visited Olubadan ‘crownless’, on Monday, 26 months after the went their separate ways.
At the Monday’s truce said to be brokered by the Osi Olubadan, Rashidi Ladoja, only two of the seven estranged chiefs were present. They were Balogun and High Chief Amidu Ajibade.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland on Tuesday urged high chiefs to join hands with him to move Ibadan forward.
The Olubadan said he was happy the differences had been laid to rest in the spirit of oneness and unity of the city.
His media aide, Mr Adeola Oloko, in an interview with The Punch said, “Consultations will continue ahead of the next meeting among the high chiefs. All of them will be expected to be present at the next meeting. We hope all of them will come as the Kabiyesi will be expecting them.
“Remember they (chiefs) said the earlier notice was short and some of them could not attend Monday’s meeting.
“They have picked the date for the next meeting and we hope everybody will be in attendance. We need to move forward; everybody should pocket his pride,” Oloko said.
The Otun Olubadan, Lekan Balogun, said there was no precondition for the truce.
He said, “Some of the high chiefs could not attend yesterday’s (Monday’s) meeting because they had other engagements for the day.
“As I am talking to you, one of them is here right now with me. Everybody will be in attendance at the next meeting. We did what we did for peace and tranquility of our land,” Balogun said.
