A prominent Ibadan mogaji, Alhaji Abass Oloko, has chided critics of another mogaji and industrialist, Engr. Dotun Sanusi.

Oloko, reacting to statement by group that said the Otun Apesinola of Ibadanland started using a Muslim name because of his alleged gubernatorial bid, accused those behind it as playing a game and up to something.

According to him, Sanusi, who owns Ibadan School of Arts, Science and Technology, ICAST, Elebu as well Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resorts, Akanran, deserves respect and accolades from indigenes and residents of the capital city.

“Though Engr. Dotun Sanusi hasn’t told us he wants to contest governorship in 2027 but I don’t like the statement by one Tijanniyah group. I know Engr. Sanusi very well. He isn’t someone who tells lies. He is principled but humble.

“I am a Muslim. But Engr. Dotun Sanusi isn’t though he was born as a Muslim by Muslim parents. He converted to Christianity and everyone knows about it. He hasn’t hidden it. He maintained name Jubril Dotun Sanusi. If there is anywhere he said he is still a Muslim, they should bring it out. He isn’t someone who will lie even if truly he wants to be governor of Oyo State.

“If he wants to be governor, people like us would support without being prompted. He is eminently qualified and has a tract record of performance. It is to his credit that Akanran is what it is today. Apart form sinking personal money running into billions of naira into it, he influenced the reconstruction of roads in Ona Ara local government by the current administration. He has created thousands of jobs as well as empowerment to the people. He does these without asking about your religion or ethnicity. He has siblings and family members who are Muslims.”
