Raufu Olaniyan, whose removal as Seyi Makinde’s deputy is being challenged in court, has floored the new number 2 man, Bayo Lawal in their Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope federal constituency.
Olaniyan who is an All Progressives Congress, APC, leader, hails from Igboho, headquarters of Oorelope local government while Lawal, a former commisioner, and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is from neighbouring Kisi, headquarters of Irepo local government. Both are also from the same senatorial district.
Lateef Olaide Muhammed (Mahmuda) of the APC scored 15,475 while PDP’s Husain Yusuf (Ijabah) had 10,935. Olumide Ojerinde of Accord scored 9,606, Afeez Ona Ara of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, scored 6394.
Apart from their federal constituency, Olaniyan’s APC also defeated Lawal’s PDP in their senatorial district.
