Running mate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde, Engr. Raufu Olaniyan, has assured that the oil-magnate would run Oyo State better if he is given the chance.

Olaniyan who was the permanent secretary at the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency, OYSTROMA, during the administration of former governor Rashidi Ladoja, spoke yesterday during a media chat.

The Igboho-born politician was quoted as saying that “The PDP government of Engineer Makinde will be far different from that of PDP government of Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala and Senator Rashidi Ladoja. Makinde’s own will transform the state better.”

OYO INSIGHT recalls that Alao-Akala succeeded Ladoja in 2007.

Olaniyan was a prominent member of Accord before he joined the All Progressives Congress, APC. He later left APC with members of the Unity Forum to the African Democratic Congress, ADC. Olaniyan, who was one of the 12 aggrieved ADC governorship aspirants, almost joined Action Democratic Party, ADP, before he settled for the PDP.

Speaking further, he explained that “We are going to use the existing facts and figures to project into the future; we are going to think outside the box. If we are doing it the same way it is being done, we will get the same result but we are going to work on the existing data. For instance, Oyo is a pace setter state, in education we are now at number 26; in WAEC, our government will look into that and map out plans to address the causes of the failure.”

He said he accepted to work with Makinde because he considered his manifesto as the best that will enhance the desired changes needed in the state.

He added that Makinde has good programmes for the state, noting that “he has sat down with me and we have harmonized our programmes to give Oyo state the best.”

He said further that “Some of our leaders in the ADC called me to be Lanlehin’s deputy and promised to sign an agreement that I will be his successor as governor of the state but I declined because I am particular about today and changing the situation in the state for better.”

He boasted that PDP will win the state in 2019 election, disclosing that most of the aggrieved members in ADC are already in PDP. He added that more people are still coming from other party.

This is just as he maintained that the people of Oyo state are tired of the APC.

“People are tired of suffering and hardship inflicted on them by the APC government and they will vote them out because they will not support continuity of the government with no human faces,” he said.
