The Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Olabisi has expressed his profound appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for allowing due process to prevail in the process that led to his selection as the new king of Saki.
Oba Khalid, who stated this on Thursday, during the presentation of Staff of Office to him by Governor Seyi Makinde at his Palace in Saki, also expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed to his emergence.
“My profound appreciation goes to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde for encouraging and allowing due process to prevail in the selection exercise to the admiration of all and sundry in Saki and environs, the SSG, the Hon.Commissioner for Local Government and CA, all others who contributed in one way or the other to the unhindered passages of all the relevant document and files across governmental departments for the swift approval of His Excellency, bringing about the historic event we are all here witnessing today,” Oba Khalid, a UNILAG trained Surveyor, said.
Speaking on the Kingmakers, who, according to him, “stood firmly by the truth, fairness and equity” as bequeathed on them by the forefathers of the town, the new Okere assured them that with their action and choice, the ancestors of the town are now felicating with them in their heavenly abodes.
“And, to those our mothers, fathers, elders, youth groups ,trade and professional associations, security agencies e.t.c, whose steadfastness with the sanctity of all the installation rites as laid down by our tradition resulting in the happenings of today, I say Awon Onile Saki, Ologun, Asabari a gbe yin o!
“I appreciate very deeply the numerous messages of goodwill sent through equally numerous channels by fellow royal fathers, Baales, Chiefs, the Clergy and several others; I take all as both challenge and motivation to strive harder in meeting the expectations of all by tactfully achieving constructive synergy between culture and modernity,” he added.
He then pledged to use all his connections to attract investments into Saki, upgrade the entrepreneurial spirit of the people, and upgrade through mechanization, the traditional occupation – agriculture, blacksmithing, iron pot manufacturing – of the people.
