Oke-Ogun Has Never Had It So Good: Why Tinubu Deserves Our Block Vote In 2027 | Alao Adeola

For decades, Oke-Ogun was the abandoned child of Nigeria’s development story. We have 10 Local Government Areas, we contribute over 60% of Oyo State’s food, we share borders with Benin Republic, Kwara, Niger and Osun, yet what did we have to show for federal presence? Nothing. No Federal University. No Federal Polytechnic. No Federal Medical Centre. Successive governments came and went, they used us for votes and dumped us after elections.

That story has changed under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

In less than three years, Asiwaju has done for Oke-Ogun what others could not do in 30 years. And for this, we in Oke-Ogun say: We will give him block votes in 2027 – for him and for all progressive candidates.

The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO) is the clearest proof that Tinubu has a heart for Oke-Ogun. This project was conceived over a decade ago. Senator AbdulFatai Buhari fought for it. The bill was passed by the National Assembly. Former President Muhammadu Buhari refused to sign it; he signed for Daura but left Oke-Ogun behind.

President Tinubu, within months in office, assented to the bill. Today, FUNATO is no longer a bill on paper. It is a full-fledged Federal University with its pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi, with NUC approval for 30 programmes across 6 Colleges.

For the first time in history, a child from Kisi, Iseyin, Saki, Igboho, Okeho, Shaki, Igbeti can go to a Federal University in his own backyard. This is not just a school; it is an economic revolution – jobs, housing, markets, research for our farmers. This is what Renewed Hope means.

For years we cried that bandits, kidnappers and cross-border criminals were taking over our forests. Our farmers could not go to farm. Our people were being kidnapped in Oriire, in Kishi, in Iseyin, in Igboho amongst others. And guess what? President Tinubu has answered us decisively.

As announced by the General Officer Commanding, 2 Mechanised Division, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, on October 1st, 2026 during a courtesy visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, President Tinubu has approved FOUR new Army formations in Oyo State, and three of them are in Oke-Ogun:

-170 Infantry Battalion Barracks in Kishi. Already arrived. Residents jubilated when troops entered Kishi last week.

-Artillery Regiment Battalion in Iseyin

-Battalion in Oriire Local Government Area* – the very area where children were abducted recently.

These barracks will be under the Brigade and Garrison in Oyo town.

This means permanent military presence, deterrence, rapid response and thousands of jobs for our youths in recruitment. For a zone that shares international border with Benin Republic, this is the best security decision in 50 years.

The third leg is healthcare. Senator Buhari disclosed during his Arise TV interview after meeting Mr. President that the bill for the Federal Medical Centre, Igboho, firstly sponsored by Hon. Olumide Ojerinde and re-presented to the House by Hon. Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed (former and current members of Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo respectively) and co-sponsored at the Senate by Senator Buhari, has passed both chambers of the National Assembly. It passed the House in May 2024 and the Senate has concurred. It is now awaiting Presidential assent.

We are anticipating that assent with full confidence because President Tinubu has never disappointed Oke-Ogun.

Igboho FMC will serve over 2 million people in Oke-Ogun who currently travel hours to UITH in Ilorin, Bowen Teaching hospital in Ogbomosho and even UCH in Ibadan for tertiary care. It will decongest Oyo, create jobs for our nurses and doctors, and bring federal presence to Oke-Ogun.

When Mr. President signs it as we know he will, it will be the first Federal Medical Centre in the entire Oke-Ogun zone.

Your Excellency, we are not ingrates. You gave us FUNATO when others ignored us. You gave us Army Barracks when bandits were killing us.
You are about to give us FMC Igboho. For these, Oke-Ogun will do what we know how to do best by delivering block votes.

In 2023, Oke-Ogun gave APC over 70% of its votes even when the state was lost. In 2027, we will do more. We will deliver for President Tinubu, for Senator Sharafadeen Alli as Governor, for Senator AbdulFatai Buhari and all our House of Reps and House of Assembly candidates by the grace of God.

We know a performing President when we see one. A divided house can never stand, but a united Oke-Ogun with a President who listens will stand forever. Oke-Ogun is for Tinubu. Tinubu is for Oke-Ogun.

We are looking for more – a Federal Polytechnic/monotechnic, rehabilitation of our federal roads and more. And we trust that as you have started, you will do more.
