LWith completion of the official handing over ceremony of the Ahmadu Bello.Stadium, ABS, Kaduna, the sport minister, Sunday Dare, has stated that the next stadium to be released into custody is the former Liberty Stadium in Ibadan (now the Obafemi Awolowo stadium).
The signing of the MOU between the federal government and the Kaduna state government on Friday 27th, January 2023 at the Government House, Kaduna concludes the much expected handover of the 25,000 capacity stadium.
In the last one year the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium has undergone some renovations alongside the National Stadium, Surulere in Lagos.
The Minister continues to harp on the need for sports infrastructural as the backbone of sports development.
A novelty game between the Sunday Dare led Team FMYSD and Governor Nasir El-Rufai led Team Kaduna State was played at the formal transfer of custody of the stadium.
