A non-governmental organization, Oyo State Leading Patroits, (OLP) on Thursday takes anti-violence campaign to major Markets in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state in a bid to enhance peace and orderliness in the state
The group, led by it president and founder, Asiwaju Nurudeen Akinade inaugurated this at different markets in Ibadan where the hastag #Endalltheseattacks was introduced to market traders in the spirit of promoting peaceful society after the recent happenings where looting and arson were committed.
Major markets visited includes Molete market, Agbaje market, Aleshinloye Market, Bodija market and Ojoo market respectively
While at Molete Market, the president of the group, Asiwaju Akinade lamented on the situation that has engulfed the community in the past two weeks, most especially in Ibadan. He also fussed about how innocent policemen were killed and irreplaceable properties destroyed.
The former cultural chairman of Ibadan CCII week also unfurled to the market traders the need for peace and tranquility in the market, urging the traders to be peace ambassadors in wherever they might find themselves so that development can be made.
Responding to this, the Iyaloja of Ibadan land Chief (Mrs) Oyinlola Amerigun supported this initiative and lauded the group for taking up the responsibility of preaching peace around the market. She however used the opportunity to preach to other market men and women to also preach peace, teaching their children the way of morality.
The Organization however presented a banner to the market leaders, depicting the message of #Endalltheseattacks, #ProtectPublicProperties, “let’s protect our officers to save our communities”, “Don’t be used as pawn to destroy.”
Similar activities were launched at Agabaje market, where the condition was relatively peaceful and serene. The market leader of the market through one of it leaders, Alhaja Agbaraowo responded positively to the exhortation of goodwill. She commended the process of the group and also grouched on how shops were looted and arson committed. She urged them to continue the good work and preach on the messages to the nook and cranny of the State.
Also, while at Aleshinloye market, representatives of the market, Abdulazeez Ibrahim, the secretary to the market eulogised the group for their commitment, yet admonished the group to visit grassroots, and keep on orienting the other community as the churches and mosques, who controls a very large members of the society.
Other market visited includes the Bodija market and Ojoo market, where their leaders were met and the message was also relayed to them. The group, however presented the banner of hastag to them as it was done in other markets.
Meanwhile, other personalities that accompanied the President of the group includes Mr Bello Ademola, Comrade Olalekan Yusuf, the President of Federation of Ibadan Student Union (FIBSU), comrade Olalekan Yusuf, the Polytechnic of Ibadan chapter president of FIBSU and other members
